Georgia Film Facts

How big is the market and how big will we grow?

The film industry in Georgia and more specifically Atlanta is really growing. Since the inception of the Georgia Film, Video & Music Office in 1973, over 500 major motion pictures and television programs have filmed in the state including Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Stomp the Yard, Driving Miss Daisy, The Gospel, Sweet Home Alabama, The Fighting Temptations, Forrest Gump, the Emmy Award-winning HBO film Warm Springs, In the Heat of the Night and The Dukes of Hazzard.

In Georgia, the future of film and video production has never been more promising.

There are more than 14 in-state colleges and universities that offer degrees or study in film and video.

Georgia Financial Incentives

There are generous financial incentives.
The state instituted a  point of purchase sales and use tax exemption in 2002.

The state’s second and most progressive tax incentive, the Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act , was signed into law by Governor Sonny Perdue in May 2005.

The Georgia Film, Video & Music Office does not issue permits. Most filming in Georgia is permit-free.

Georgia enjoys one of the more moderate year-round climates in the nation.

All of these factors make Georgia a great place to film and therefore makes it an ideal place for a viable Casting/Production Company.
